Elsa's POV
My alarm betrayed me. Or maybe I betrayed myself by snoozing it one too many times. Either way, I was in trouble.
“Shit, shit, shit” I scrambled out of bed, nearly tripping over my own feet as I grabbed the first clothes I could find.
Today was a packed schedule for the boys, which meant I had to be at the company early. But instead of being an hour early like I usually was, I was now running almost an hour late..
Not exactly the best look for a professional makeup artist.
I threw my hair into a messy bun, grabbed my bag, and ran out the door. No time for breakfast. No time for coffee. The real tragedy of my morning.
By the time I reached the company building, I was gasping for breath. The elevator was about to close, and I made a run for it, only to slam straight into what felt like a wall.
A very firm, very muscular wall.
Strong hands caught my arms before I could go tumbling to the ground. I looked up, and my stomach did an Olympic-level flip..
Jeon Jungkook.
Of course, of all people, it had to be him.
His dark eyes flickered down to me, unimpressed. “You’re late”
I panted, still catching my breath. “And you’re… in my way”
His jaw twitched. God, why did he have to be so stupidly hot when he was annoyed?
Jungkook sighed and stepped aside, allowing me to slip into the elevator just before the doors closed. I leaned against the cool metal wall, trying to regain some semblance of composure..
“You look like you ran for your life,” he muttered, side-eyeing me.
“That’s because I did.” I let out a dramatic sigh. “You try oversleeping, skipping breakfast, and then sprinting across town.”
He grunted in response, pressing the button for our floor..
Silence settled between us, but I wasn’t one to let an opportunity go to waste..
“So,” I drawled, turning to him with a sly smile. “Do you always catch girls who fall for you, or am I just special?”
Jungkook exhaled sharply through his nose. “Shut up.”
I pouted. “That’s not a no”
He ran a hand through his dark hair, clearly resisting the urge to roll his eyes. “You’re annoying”
“Yet, here you are, stuck in an elevator with me.” I leaned in slightly, lowering my voice. “Admit it, you love my attention”
His gaze darkened, and for a brief second, something flickered in his eyes—something unreadable. Then, he stepped closer, his presence suddenly overwhelming in the small space..
I felt my breath catch as his scent—fresh, clean, with a hint of something dark and musky—wrapped around me. My back pressed against the elevator wall, my pulse hammering against my ribs.
“Elsa.” His voice was low, rough. “If you don’t keep your mouth in check, you’re going to get yourself in trouble”
I swallowed, my skin tingling as his hand rested lightly on the wall beside my head. His fingers brushed against my hair, almost as if he wasn’t even aware of it..
My brain short-circuited. Jungkook was close. Too close. His body heat radiated against mine, and for the first time, I realized just how broad he was, how effortlessly he caged me in without even touching me.
Two years. Two years of crushing on him, flirting, teasing, and putting up with his grumpy attitude. I know we’re not meant to be, but there’s still hope, and I live for those small moments. The ones when he lets his guard down and focuses on me, even if it’s just a warning or a fleeting glance.
“What kind of trouble?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
His gaze flicked to my lips, just for a second. But I saw it.."Better not find out,” he murmured before walking away, leaving me dumbfounded.
As I stepped out of the elevator, my legs still felt unsteady. My mind Doing all the calculations, making assumptions.
Was he finally noticing me? Or was I imagining things?
Before I could dwell too much, a familiar voice called my name. “Elsa, You’re finally here. We thought you got lost or something”
I turned to see Jimin grinning at me, his usual playful expression making my nerves settle. “Overslept,” I admitted, falling into step beside him as we walked toward the dressing rooms. “It was tragic”
Jimin chuckled. “Well, you’re here now. And just in time—Jungkook was getting grumpier by the second”
I snorted. “Isn’t he always?”
